What Bethabara Believes

Our Hope:

We believe our only hope is based on the Gospel. You may have heard the word before: Gospel. Churches use it all the time, but what does it really mean. The word itself means “good news.” In this world of brokenness and constant bad news, we could all use some truly good news. That man’s only hope to be redeemed is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  Salvation is received “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.  (Romans 10:9-10).  He can transform your life.

Holy Scriptures:

That the Bible (Old and New Testament) is the infallible, divinely inspired word of God and is the only authority of faith and Godly conduct.  We believe that The Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

True God:

We believe that there is one, and only one, true and living God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

The Person and Work of Jesus:

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is the only begotten Son of the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life, was crucified on the cross, buried in a borrowed tomb and rose from the dead.  He ascended to the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.  (Matthew 1:18-23; Hebrews 7:25-26; Acts 2:33; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)  God’s absolute holiness demands justice be done, so all sin must be punished. However, the good news of the gospel, is that Jesus has taken this punishment upon Himself. God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to bear the penalty for our sins!  Jesus affirmed that it was for the very purpose of dying that He came into the world (John 12:27). Moreover, He perceived His death as being a sacrificial offering for the sins of humanity (Matthew 26:26-28). Jesus took His sacrificial mission with utmost seriousness, for He knew that without Him, humanity would certainly perish (Matthew 16:25; John 3:16) and spend eternity apart from God in a place of great suffering (Matthew 10:28; 11:23; 23:33; 25:41; Luke 16:22-28).  The Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10).  God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17).  This is great news, but the benefits of Christ’s death on the cross are not automatically applied to your life. God requires you to surrender your life to Him and trust Him for the forgiveness of your sins.

The Holy Spirit:

The inward witness of the Spirit and the outward witness of a holy and righteous life are the evidence of salvation.  (Romans 8:16; Ephesians 4:24; 1 John 3:23).  The Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and the same nature; that He was active in creation; that is in relation to the unbelieving world. He restrains the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of judgment, and of righteousness; that He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the agent in the New Birth.

The Church:

Jesus Christ is the head of the Church (His body) and is its source of authority and power.  Each person who has been born of the Spirit is an important part of the Church.  The Church has as its divine mission the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to take the gospel to the entire world and to make disciples of all nations. We recognize water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the only Scriptural ordinances of obedience for the church in this age. We believe scriptural baptism is immersion of believers, administered by a New Testament Church; and the Lord’s Supper is a memorial ordinance, restricted to local church members and visiting believers. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 18:18; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)

Believe In Jesus Christ:

A personal relationship with Jesus is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. It is unlike any other relationship. If you go into eternity without this relationship, you will spend eternity apart from Him. We desire that everyone understand the gospel and accept the free gift of salvation offered to all mankind through the life, work, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Understand that God Desires a Personal Relationship With You.  We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.

Sanctification:

Sanctification is the act of separating from evil, sin and the lusts of the world.  In identifying with Christ and exercising faith in His sacrificial death and resurrection the believer’s sanctification becomes a reality to them personally.

Mission:

We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19-20
